They’ll Be Watching

Last night the City Council scrounged up $1.5 million to purchase surveillance cameras for installation around Rochester.  Notice this only covers the purchase and not the actual cost of physical installation.

Twenty-eight cameras will be purchased initially with that number expected to grow to forty:

Police Chief David Moore said, “These cameras are really not to replace officers, but only to enhance what we’re doing out there in terms of crime reduction and the reduction of violence.”

The police force will seek public input on possible locations for the cameras.

The Council also approved Mayor Bob Duffy’s request to parent other people’s children for them and extend the mandatory curfew for youth under the age of sixteen.

Did I miss something?  Has this curfew accomplished anything or actually served a purpose?

I’ve actually been working on a project photographing surveillance cameras.

Photographing cameras photographing me………the ultimate in postmodern rephotographic surveys.
